Due to the Tova tailpiece’s unique design, standard-length strings are unsuitable for use with violins, violas, cellos, and double basses. Therefore, the extra-long “Tova length” strings are required.
These strings are exclusively available through our distribution as they are part of a patented system. Our close collaboration with esteemed string makers ensures that we meet the demands of our users with utmost care and efficiency.
Each musical instrument possesses a unique story that is impossible to fully comprehend. We encourage you to experience it firsthand and draw your own conclusions. We strongly encourage you to visit a luthier (instrument builder/repairman) for a proper setup. Tailpiece replacement requires some knowledge and experience and should not be taken lightly. If you do decide to do it yourself, you must do so at your own risk and accept full responsibility for any subsequent damage to your instrument. For violin and viola, you have the possibility of using them for the 1st and 2nd fine-tuner pegs to get the full potential of the Tova system. If you plan to use just one or two, you can leave your old pegs.
For cello, tailpieces are strongly advised to be used with four geared pegs.
“Should I replace my bridge or sound post?”
You don’t have to replace any other parts of your instrument. Keeping your current setup unchanged will allow you to experience the precise changes in sound.
At the moment, Tova exclusively uses strings that are specifically designed for its system. Unfortunately, we do not currently supply elongated gut strings. However, we are actively working on developing them for the future.
The starter packs come equipped with the Kevlar tailgut, which is compatible with Tova. Our exhaustive tests and experience with hundreds of setups have demonstrated that Kevlar tailguts offer the best sound quality and return the most vibration back toward the tailpiece and bridge. This is why all Tova tailpieces come pre-fitted with Kevlar tailguts.
We have put in extra effort to ensure that Tova is compatible with both standard and some non-standard instrument measures. All instruments in 4/4 size are suitable for use with Tova, as well as 3/4 double basses.
